The German Christmas Pickle

Starting who knows when, by who knows who (the facts have been lost over the years…3 variations of the story can be found here), the Christmas pickle is a beloved Germany tradition that my family has celebrated each year during the holidays.  As the last ornament to ordain the tree, the parents hide the glass decoration in the shape of a green, whole pickle on Christmas Eve.  Once given the go-ahead, the children search the tree for the hidden pickle…whichever child finds the lucky pickle receives an extra gift to open!

Start this Christmas tradition in your family!  Buy one from Amazon today!  Its a fun annual tradition AND a fun story to tell.
